Germantown Md. (May 3, 2019, 2019) – Adventist HealthCare has signed on to be the title sponsor for the 13th annual Discovery Cup. The Discovery Cup is a prestigious, girls-only tournament that will bring 10,000 people to the Maryland SoccerPlex annually. This year the event will be held October 12th and 13th. The Discovery Cup will now be named the Adventist HealthCare Discovery Cup.
“We are thrilled to partner with Adventist HealthCare, they are a great local organization known for its commitment to the local community,” said Maryland SoccerPlex Executive Director, Matt Libber. “The event already provides a great experience for the teams and players, but having Adventist HealthCare on board will make it even better.”
The Discovery Cup generally brings more than 230 teams coming from New York to Florida to participate. This tournament is considered a must-attend for girls’ teams aged U9-U18. All games will be played on professionally manicured fields, including Maureen Hendricks Field, seat lighted stadium that was Connect Sports.
"We're excited to partner with the Maryland SoccerPlex and the Discovery Cup tournament in October," said Sonya Kella, MD, medical director of Women’s Imaging for Adventist HealthCare . “For several years, the Discovery Cup has been raising breast cancer awareness and we are pleased to be a part of that effort this year. The SoccerPlex has also been a great resource for all of Montgomery County, and we appreciate their dedication to providing the best experience for the players.”
